Sasikumar Punnekat appointed as BITS Pilani Director

New Delhi, Feb 26 (IBNS): BITS Pilani on Thursday announced the joining of Sasikumar Punnekkat as the Director and Sr. Professor (Computer Science & Information Systems) at BITS Pilani, KK Birla Goa Campus on Feb 25.

He took charge from Prof. K. E. Raman who has over 37 years of experience at BITS Pilani in various capacities.

The formal handing over of the charge took place between the two directors in the virtual presence of Prof. B N Jain, the Vice Chancellor who joined the occasion through telepresence facility from Pilani campus.

"Prof. Sasikumar Punnekkat holds a D.Phil. in Computer Science (1997) from University of York, UK and has over 30 years rich experience in academics, research & administration. His research & development experience as a Scientist at Indian Space Research Organisation (1984-2004) and international academic experience as Professor of Dependable Software Engineering at School of Innovation, Design & Engineering, Malardalen University, Sweden (since 2007) are of noteworthy mention," read an official statement.


On this occasion  Sasikumar Punnekkat, Director and Sr. Professor of BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa campus, said "BITS is known for its excellence in undergraduate education, and envisions being a top ranked institution both nationally and internationally by 2020. I feel honoured to be chosen to lead BITS Goa and aim to strengthen its research profile, industrial collaborations and international networks synergistically with its educational programs in the coming years"
