Kolkata students shine at Science Olympiad 2014-15

Kolkata, June 2 (IBNS): Four students of Kolkata made their parents proud by garnering International Ranks in the Olympiad Awards held recently in Delhi organized by Science Olympiad Foundation.
About Forty lac students, over 31500 schools from 1400 cities across India and 19 countries participated in the Olympiad exams during 2014-15.
 
In this Olympiad, Kolkata came out with flying colours. With 4 International Rankers to its credit, Kolkata proved its mettle all the way again. Among the rank 2 awardees from Kolkata to receive Rs 25,000 cash prize along with the Silver Medal was Aniket Mishra of class 4th from Delhi Public School in International  English Olympiad. 
 
The International Rank 3 awardees to receive Rs 10,000 cash prize and Bronze  medal  were Yogesh Agarwal of class 11th from Delhi Public School in National Cyber Olympiad followed by Anibrata Majee of class 8th and Prateek  Ganguli of class 7th from Calcutta Boy’s School in International Mathematics Olympiad and International English Olympiad Respectively.
 
During the function, the top 3 international rank holders from classes one to twelve for the 4 Olympiad exams conducted by SOF were awarded.  About Forty lac students, over 31500 schools from 1400 cities across India and 19 countries participated in the Olympiad exams during 2014-15 and millions of students appeared in the Olympiads. 
 
The awards included in Delhi Function: International rank One 47 awards. - Each winner awarded Rs.50,000/, a gold medal, Merit Certificate,  International rank Two  47 awards. – Each winner awarded Rs.25000/, a silver medal, Merit Certificate, International rank Three 47 awards. – Each winner awarded Rs.10000/, a bronze medal, Merit Certificate and gifts worth Rs 1000/ each. 
 
The top 10 principals and top 40 teachers, whose students put up an exceptional performance at international level, were also felicitated with cash awards, mementos & citations.
 
 
The Program started with the lighting of the lamp at The Chinmaya Mission Auditorium in Delhi by the Chief Guest Justice Deepak Verma, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India. Guest of honor were  Padma Shree YS Rajan Chairman, NIT Manipur & Distinguished Prof. at ISRO, Michael Gordon, Teaching Centre Manager, IndiaBritish Council, Padma Shree N.P. Gupta and Chairman, Academic and Research in Urology at Medanta- The Medicity hospital,  Gurgaon, India
 
The hall overflowing with winners, their families, well wishers and other guests, burst out in repeated applause, as each International winner proudly walked up to the stage to receive her/his award. It was indeed a proud and momentous occasion for each winner, since the top rank was achieved after competing with millions of other students in a tough two level exam. 
 
SOF is the world’s biggest organizer of Olympiad exams and have been conducting Olympiads since the past 18 years. SOF spends over Rs.10 crores annually towards awards, scholarships and felicitations of winners & participants.
 
Mahabir Singh, the founder & Executive Director of SOF shared that over 31500 schools from 1400 cities across India and 19 countries participated in the Olympiad exams during 2014-15 and millions of students appeared in the Olympiads. About 24000 students from 3500 schools have been awarded for achieving top state level ranks. In addition, close to 6,00,000 students have been awarded “Medals of Excellence” for achieving top rank in their respective schools. 1500 principals & teachers were also honored for their commitment to academics and single minded pursuit in improving the students’ academic knowledge and successfully preparing them for competitive exams A certificate of participation and a personalized detailed performance analysis report is provided to each student and school.
