Kolkata, June 26 (IBNS): The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) hosted a day long pre-departure orientation program for U.S bound undergraduates and postgraduate students at the American Centre on Friday.

The event had interactive sessions on a range of topics covering travel planning, health insurance regulations, F1 visa rules as international students in U.S, adjusting to social and cultural life and academic environment.

Speaking on the occasion Consul General Helen Lafave said:  "Education is at the very foundation of the enhanced U.S-India strategic-plus partnership. Indian students are the second largest in the U.S. We have a whole range of opportunities in the USA. Our educational system is much different. Let’s continue these connections and build more dynamic higher education communities and future global citizens.”

Discussing about the safety of international students, the Consul General said: “U.S is a very safe country, most of the people from other parts of the world stay very safely.”

The program also offered interactive sessions with academics from U.S universities and also alumni of U.S universities.
