Retail store Kamala inaugurates Christmas Bazaar

Kolkata/IBNS: The Christmas Bazaar of Kamala- the retail store of the Craft Council of India- was inaugurated on Dec 7.

It is offering a collection of scarves and mufflers in wool and silk for both men and women.

In corporate gifting, one can choose from a unique selection of greeting cards, desk calendars, fridge magnets, note books, file boards and other stationery items.

This year in corporate items there are notebooks made from jute, hyacinth and cloth. There is a variety of picks from indigenous handcrafted wooden Channapatna toys from Karnataka that includes cute ganeshas and animal figures. There is a beautiful range of candles in attractive moulds and prints.

“This Christmas we have a great range of offers for children. We have these very cute colourful ragged dolls in charming costumes made by underprivileged women of cooperatives based in Chennai.. We also have attractive woollen wears that includes cotton and silk textured shawls from Bhagalpur in earthy shades apart from shawls and stoles from Kumaon, Kullu and a few from Kilmora which are on its way.

In home items we have these very different and striking wooden and laminate pizza platters and fruit bowls which are truly unique as a buy or as a gift that have been crafted by crafts people from Delhi and its adjoining areas. We also have a very attractive range of cushions that are hand embroidered, natural dyed, hand painted and a special range of Naga cushion covers that is new this year and would make a wonderful buy”, stated Kasturi Gupta Menon, Hony. President, Craft Council of India, Kolkata.

Pashmina and eri shawls and wraps are also the new arrivals as also scarves and mufflers in silk and wool for men and women. One can pick bags, batuas, and purses in leather, sabai grass and brocade.

Trinket lovers can find ideal gifting options in inlaid wooden boxes; Printed bed-covers, dohars, as well as quilts from Jaipur and Sanganer are on display.

There are cute pot pourrie in pretty woven cases embellished with pith flowers for those looking for quick picks. There are wooden coasters, wooden chess sets, puzzles, bangles and many more such items to make the shopping experience truly colorful and cheerful keeping to the joyous spirit of the season.

The exhibition will run till Dec 14.
