Five restaurants and bar that you can head to this Valentine's Day in Kolkata
Kolkata/IBNS: Every bar and restaurant worth their salt are gearing up with special spreads for Valentine's Day. Here are five picks that you cannot miss this year.
Right through February, Fabcafe by Fabindia HAS laid out a special spread where you get a chance to indulge in healthy and organic desserts and smoothie bowls.
A house special, ‘Fabcafe Chocolate Cake’ is prepared with a mixture of almond flour, home-made desi ghee and coconut sugar, to which you may add a scoop of mixed berry ice cream to add that extra zing.
Or dig into their ‘Very Berry Smoothie Bowl’ made up of mixed berries topped with house-made granola and fresh fruits; it also has a vegan option.
The café is open Monday to Sunday, 8.30am to 10:30pm. Pocket pinch: Rs 1400 for two.
Dine under the starts at the rooftop lounge of Hammer, which has on offer a special menu that celebrates the fuzzy feeling of love, until February 14.
From nibbles to mains, there are lots of choice for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, curated by none other than celebrity chef Shaun Kenworthy.
Highlights include Moroccan Chicken Skewers with Tahini Garlic dip and roasted Cumin oil’ ‘Tandoor roasted Cottage Cheese with Strawberry salsa and Pumpkin seeds’, ‘Charred Pepper Tacos, topped with Pico de Gallo salsa’, and ‘Chocolate Fondue with fresh strawberries and cream’.
For some liquid joy there are exotic cocktails such as Lady in Red (fresh strawberries, vodka and Cointreau); Stupid Cupid (passion fruit syrup, gin, grenadine and tonic), Chocolate Temptation (Baileys Irish cream, coffee liqueur, vanilla ice cream) and more.
Kolkata’s popular lounge bar Lord of the Drinks (LOTD) has curated two very special dishes along with their existing menu for Valentine’s Day.
Choose from an array of heart shaped special vegetarian and non-vegetarian pizzas and desserts (which includes, a heart shaped velvet white chocolate pastry layered with cream cheese, rich cream and garnished with nuts and strawberry relish).
Open noon to midnight.
Pocket pinch for two: Rs 1000+ without alcohol and Rs 1800+ with alcohol.
Get ‘Drunk in Love’ at Monkey Bar where between February 14 and 16, you and your valentine can enjoy wine-laced cocktails, great food and foot tapping music.
Some of the signature drinks include Red Wine Cocktail (Shiraz red wine, dark rum, lime, spiced up with pepper, clove and cinnamon), Forbidden Fruit (Chenin Blanc, apple juice, apple cider, rosemary, light rum, vodka, gin, lime juice and syrup), and Deep Blush (a classic Merlot, light and dark rum, beetroot juice and orange juice).
Meanwhile, on February 14, singing sensations Paloma and Adil will regale you with romantic numbers, nine pm onwards.
The gastropub is open Sunday to Thursday, noon to midnight; Friday, noon to 1 am; and Saturday, noon to 2 am (note: guests above 21 years only are permitted after 6pm).
A special spread of assorted desserts and colourful macarons, matching the vibrant mood of Valentine’s Day, has been laid out by Yauatcha.
The petits gateaux and macarons draw their inspiration from Chinese ingredients but are presented in classic European style.
The Valentine’s Day special petits gateaux selection includes rose-shaped dessert, Raspberry Delice, Raspberry macaron, Strawberry Macaron, etc.
