A 60-year-old woman in Argentina has shattered stereotypes to win the  Miss Universe Buenos Aires title.

Lawyer and journalist Alejandra Rodríguez has become the first  60-year-old woman in beauty pageant history to win the title.

Her crowning broke norms which state younger women generally win such titles.

“I am thrilled to be representing this new paradigm in beauty pageants because we are inaugurating a new stage in which women are not only physical beauty but another set of values,” Alejandra Rodríguez was quoted as saying by The Independent.

“I am the first of this generation to start with this," she said.

“I think the judges saw my confidence and my passion to represent the women of my generation,” she said.

She said she is determined to contest for the Miss Universe Argentina crown.
