Kolkata/IBNS: Education counsellor and academic coach Payal Chitlangia in association with Octa and nutritionist Mayanka Singhal last week conducted an interactive workshop on healthy eating and easy-to-cook recipes for rising first-year students preparing to go overseas later this year.

Emphasis was also placed on what kind of food should be eaten by students for their three square meals in the interactive conversation between Mayanka Singhal and Payal Chitlangia.

Nutritionist Mayanka Singhal spoke about easy breakfast options like 3 ingredient smoothies, nut butter, hazards related to packaged food, ingredients one should look out for while buying processed food, eating regularly, and avoiding intermittent fasting.

She said, “As a nutritionist, I took the initiative to provide them a wider knowledge of food and lifestyle while abroad and we tried to help them in this session on how to make healthy choices."

Payal Chitlangia seconded the suggestions that nutritionist Mayanka Singhal gave, she said, “My students go to highly competitive colleges and often have to juggle immense amounts of work within timelines and deadlines.

"Their focus on eating healthy and regularly is lost and their health suffers as a result. It is important that they learn simple ways to eat smartly and prioritise their health while they strive for academic and career success.”

A live demonstration of the easy-to-cook recipes was conducted by Chef Ritabrata Biswas.

Biswas cooked a one-bowl vegetarian meal, grilled chicken, and easy-to-cook steaks from a large variety of recipes.

“From procuring an ingredient to processing, I always keep in mind that at the end of the day someone is going to eat that. And that's the motivation for me to serve good healthy food," he adds.
