Kolkata, Sept 19 (IBNS) : The 73rd Puja celebrations of Manicktalla Chaltabagan Lohapatty Durga Puja would be inaugurated by West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on Sunday with Dhak Mahotsav.

Bengali actor Prasenjit Chatterjee would be the Chief Guest at the event.

This year's theme for the Chaltabagan Durga Puja is the “Vision of Life” during the evolution of the species on earth.

The theme will depict the species of animals and birds that evolved on earth before the coming of man.

The theme will celebrate the harmonious co-existence of different species which share this earth.

Chaltabagan Durga Puja has been at the forefront of innovation with socially-relevant themes like solar lighting, use of re-cycled waste, sustainable development and so on.

This year Chaltabagan Durga Puja pandal would be decked up by the use of discarded tin drums. The artisans have been working for over three months to transform the bland looking drums, used as vanaspati containers, into work of art.

“We are honoured and proud of the fact that Chaltabagan Durga Puja is the first Puja-related event to be inaugurated by His Excellency, Governor of West Bengal. Chaltabagan Durga Puja's use of  innovative ideas has made it one of the top crowd pullers in the city. This year’s theme and pandal decoration would be a big draw. A host of eminent personalities from the world of art, culture, foreign consular corps, sports, politics, industry and glamour would be present at the inauguration,” said Sundeep Bhutoria, Chairman, Manicktalla Chaltabagan Lohapatty Durga Puja Committee.
