Spencer’s introduces sweet delicacies from across the country on Makar Sankranti

Kolkata, Jan 14 (IBNS) Spencer’s Retail has introduced sweetmeats from across the country savored particularly at this time of the year on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, a harvest festival in India celebrated in almost in a myriad of cultural forms.

There was a unique display of a sweet platter at Spencer’s Quest Mall on Tuesday when an array of delectable Bengali, North Indian and South Indian sweets were introduced to its shoppers in the city.

Spencer’s Chief Corporate Chef, Gautam Misra introduced Bengali specialties such as ‘Ras Pithey, Dudh Pithey, Narkoler Patishapta, Khirer Patishapta’,  North Indian specialties – Gajak, Til Laddoo and Revri and South Indian specialty – Rava Payasam  to Kolkatans.

Reasonably priced, these specialties will be available at Spencer’s Epicuisine stores situated in Quest, South City and Axis Mall throughout January.

According to the Hindu calendar, Makar Sankranti is a festival celebrated on Magh 1st of Hindu Solar Calendar for the happiness of getting new crops for farmers. It also symbolizes the end of winter and makes the day last longer than night paving the way for summer.
