Vidya Balan rides Nihar Natural campaign against social stereotype of women
Kolkata, Feb 11 (IBNS): National award winning Bollywood actress and the brand ambassador of Nihar Naturals, Vidya Balan unhooked the Nihar Naturals #IAmCapable report, a national study commissioned to Neilson, at an event in Kolkata, to exhort women to move over outward appearance and focus on their inner worth.
Nihar complied with the task of making Indian women comprehend that, "Appearance cannot be a tool to judge a woman’s capability.”
The #IAmCapable report featured a finite bigotry faced by Indian women in today’s world. Nihar’s initiative, commissioned the research to bust some common myths regarding a women’s appearance and her ability.
The actor has come across such stereotypes in her professional field.
Addressing the media, Vidya said, "I have chosen to be associated with Nihar over 5 years, for this brand believes in encouraging and enabling women to achieve their full potential. I learn that more than 69 percent of Indian men agree that their judgment of women is based on their looks."
"I feel by making public the findings in this survey Nihar is doing great job in rejecting appearance based stereotypes. Nihar through its initiatives is tangibly enabling men and woman alike to overcome obstacles to development,” she said.
Also present at the event was Harshini Khanekar, India’s first lady fire engineer who overcame the odds of conventional bias against her choice of career in a male dominated field to succeed in her professional life.
Besides these two bold ladies was Ruby Ghosh, who faced considerable opposition from her in-laws and people around to start dance tuition for children at her home. Her husband stood by her in the face of rejection. She began with 2 students and now she trains 80 dancers.
