Kolkata, Apr 24 (IBNS) In a new fashion statement, making common man the real ramp walkers, designer Agnimitra Paul has weaved the costumes of a new retro-restaurant in city themed on the 50's era Park Street.

"I don't think restaurant costuming has ever been done in such way. In Chapter 2 my intention was to project the flavour of old Kolkata, the Kolkata of Park Street and Sky Room when live Elvis music was played at restaurants and pubs," Agnimitra, whose ethnic-based linen is a raze among women of all age-group, tells IBNS here.

"In Chapter 2, I have introduced the fashionable polka dotted fabrics, which was a trend in those days, in the uniform of the waiters, which is complimented by the beret cap, Again a throwback to the retro era when Kolkata was hooked to Elvis and Cliff Richard genre of music and youths used to ape their sartorial styles," Agnimitra, who has designed costumes of stars and leading models in the country, says.

"I have designed the costume of the waiters, bartenders and manager and every wear is in sync with the interior of the place designed by art director Nitish Roy who has recreated the Park Street of the 1950s with a giant antique clock and a cherry colored Cadillac, placed before the bar counter," she said.

Tollywood badshah Prosenjit Chatterjee, who inaugurated the restaurant along with Agnimitra and Nitish Roy, says "I avoid oil and salt in food but happy that it has brought back the skyroom magic of the Park Street in the present times. Once my son arrives from his boarding school (in Kodaikanal) I will bring him here."

Prosenjit, who had been inaugurating several speciality restaurants in the city in past few days, says "There is a new trend of opening theme restaurants which reflects the creativity of Bengalees."

"From theme Durga Puja pandals to restaurants interiors and signature dishes, Bengalees are now exercising their creative minds," he says.

One of the owners of the restaurant Debaditya Chaudhury says, "Chapter Two signifies bringing back the 50s' chapter of Park Steeet, the original culinary hub of the city."

Agnimitra signs off: "I simply gorged on their pork chop and prawn preparation. Pork Chop is a delicacy you would find in Park Street eateries in those days and it will sure bring back the nostalgia."

Chapter 2 is located on the fourth floor of Mani Square Mall off E M Bypass.
