Internationally acclaimed and highly popular folk artists, performers, singers and dancers will infuse and bring the rich, diversified, spiritual and mystic essence of Indian “mitti” at a single platform, through Urbanized Indian Folk Music.
This is first time that Bangalore will host a folk festival of this scale.
Fakiri will be a weekend event happening on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, (10th, 11th and 12th June and 17th, 18th and 19th June) at Phoenix Market City, Whitefield. This is an open festival and entry will be free for all. The other attractions at the festival will be handicraft exhibition, photography competition, mouth watering street food from different parts of country, plug and play free folk troupe and dance groups from across the country.
Speaking on this occasion, Saikat Pande, Partner, Vanni Production said “Bangalore has always been at the forefront of cultural revolution due to its cosmopolitan nature and young demographics, which is ready to experiment. This festival will help them in connecting back to their enriching roots by blending traditional folk music and dance with urban contemporary culture. The festival features folk arts ranging from Sufi to Vedic.”
The festival will further spread out to other cities in coming few months. Phoenix Market City, Coca cola, PVR Cinema, CBRE and SENCO are official partners of the show.
