“Mouth the South” brings South India to South Kolkata at Park Plaza, Ballygunge

Kolkata, Jan 14 (IBNS): South Indian cuisine is much more than dosa and uthappam and Kolkata restaurant K-19, is out to prove that.

During a time when its Sankranti in Bengal and Pongal in south India, K-19, the all day dining restaurant of Park Plaza decided to make south Indian fare available to Kolkatans with a south Indian food festival which runs till Jan 22.

Executive Chef Jayanta Banerjee and his assistant chefs from Park Plaza Ballygunge along with guest Master Chef Kannan and his assistant chef Srinivasan from The Residency Hotel, Chennai have got together to prepare an authentic south Indian spread.

The festive south Indian spread, priced at Rs.1299 plus taxes, will be available as dinner buffet, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, from 7.30 pm to 10.45 pm.

The spread  includes delicacies such as Kozhi Charu, Nellai Kozhi Khorma, Chennai Meen Kolambhu, Kathamba Sambar, Aval Payasam, etc.

Executive Chef Jayanta Banerjee said some of the common ingredients used for the cooking are tamarind, coconut, curry leaf, mustard, red chilli, and curd chilli.

Apart from this, there will be a 'live cooking' counter that will dish out dosa, appam, mini idli, mini vada, etc.

According to the K-19 management, every effort is being made to give guests an authentic experience, right from the welcome drink to desert, and there will be no fusion with other cuisines.

The mellifluous Carnatic music playing in the background will heighten the experience.
