KFC India celebrates one year of addHOPE with actor Tanishaa Mukherji

Kolkata, May 24 (IBNS): KFC India recently marked the one-year milestone of it’s anti-hunger campaign addHOPE.

Bollywood actor Tanishaa Mukerji joined in the celebrations with children from Towards Future - Sishumon Learning Centre, where KFC through Smile Foundation has been supporting a meal program for 75 children.


addHOPE is KFC’s global initiative that is creating awareness and raising funds to provide meals for underprivileged children. In India, KFC has partnered with credible beneficiaries like the Smile Foundation, India FoodBanking Network (IFBN) and ResponseNET (Delhi & Gurgaon Food Banking Network) Together with these organizations, KFC aims to provide 20 million meals to underprivileged children by 2020. In the first year of addHOPE, KFC India has successfully provided 3.3 million meals, and feeds 10,300+ underprivileged children every day. 

On the occasion of the first anniversary of addHOPE Rahul Shinde, Managing Director, KFC India said, “Through addHOPE we striving to give children access to nutritious and balanced meals in order to grow and learn, so they can be their best selves. With the support of our consumers, employees and trusted partners we have been able to stay committed in our fight against hunger; and are moving closer, each day, to our aim of providing 20 million meals by 2020”

Present at the event, Bollywood actor Tanishaa Mukerji said, “Hunger is a major challenge that the country is facing today. addHOPE is tackling a complex problem, by raising awareness and funds for the cause, and making a positive difference to a child’s life. While many think of us as “stars”, for me, the real stars are KFC customers and employees who have helped raise funds to feed 10,300+ children every day!”

Lending his support to the cause, Santanu Mishra, Co-founder and Executive Trustee, Smile Foundation said, “Our collaboration with KFC’s addHOPE campaign is our effort to join the movement towards ending world hunger. We are today feeding 1700 children every day across the country as part of our partnership with KFC’s addHOPE™.  We are confident that this partnership will grow stronger each year, and collectively we will be able to reach out to even more children.”

KFC employees and consumers across the country continue to support addHOPE by voluntary contributions towards the program. Currently KFC, along with its trusted partners, has feeding sites across 51 locations in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Noida, Lucknow, Pune, Jharkhand, Guwahati, Chandigarh, Cochin, Vishakhapatnam and Coimbatore.
