City jeweller to mobilise funds for cardiac care of children from impoverished families
Rupak Saha, Director of Shaym Sundar Co. Jewellers, was also present.
The highlight of the programme was a musical performance 'Durga & Friends' by a team of young girls, orphan or belonging to single-parents, and staying in Chitrangada, an orphanage home.
This was undertaken as a CSR initiative by Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers. The organisation has taken the responsibility of the girls, including their education, healthcare, food and well being.
Dancer Sudarshan Chakraborty, who choreographed the entire performance, proudly spoke about his wards. He said, "The children were extremely talented. I am sure that some of them will be stars in the future if their talent can be nurtured."
Winners of an earlier-held contest titled 'Amader Aponjon' got a chance to dine with actors Soham Chakraborty and Priyanka Sarkar, the lead pair from the upcoming Bengal film Amar Aponjon, directed by Raja Chanda.
On Sunday, May 28, Hridaya, a joint venture by Shaym Sundar Co. Jewellers and Rotary Club of Calcutta Old City, will hold a fund-raising programme at the Science City, Kolkata, in aid of children hailing from impoverished families and suffering from cardiac problems.
The event titled Atithi Devo Bhava will be attended by well-known celebrities and Dr. Biswajit Bandopadhay from RN Tagore Hospital will be helping this initiative through his medical services, the organisers said.
