New York, Nov 14 (IBNS): Popular search engine Google on Tuesday designed its homepage with a doodle to celebrate the 131st birthday of a tool used in office.

The punching machine, which is widely used in offices, schools and colleges, turned 131 on Tuesday.

Friedrich Soennecken had invented the instrument which is still popularly used across the globe.

Soennecken introduced the two-hole punch and the ring binder which is used to organise documents by punching holes in sheets of paper often for the purpose of collecting the sheets in a binder or folder.

Google often designs its homepage with wonderful doodles that marks a particular day of the year, special birthdays and other major events like World Cup.

From actor Charlie Chaplin to iconic filmmaker Satyajit Ray, Google has decorated its website with special doodles to mark the occasion.
