SBI Group flags off its 2nd edition ‘SBI Green Marathon’ to promote sustainability
Kolkata, Feb 24 (IBNS): Country’s largest bank State Bank of India on Sunday flagged off its second edition of annual flagship programme ‘SBI Green Marathon’ to promote sustainability.
Partha Pratim Sengupta, DMD & CCO, SBI and Ranjan Kumar Mishra, CGM, Kolkata Circle, SBI, flagged off the event that witnessed nearly 7500 enthusiastic runners in Kolkata.
Ashok Kumar Prasad IPS, IGP (II), CID, West Bengal participated in the 21kms marathon. Swapna Barman, Indian Heptathlete, Gold Medalist, Asian Games 2018 along with Debasish Biswas - first Bengali mountaineer to scale Mt. Everest, also graced at the event. The Sunday morning in the Eco Park observed participants from across the city running 5kms, 10kms, 21kms marathon, pledging for a greener future.
Senior officials of the bank also contributed to the “Run for Green” theme and ran the marathon along with other participants.
All the runners were given organic t-shirts to promote clean and green city and their bibs consisted of seeds for tree plantation post Marathon. SBI in the next two weeks is also rolling out its green marathon in Jaipur and Patna with thirteenth marathon events got concluded in New Delhi, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Trivandrum, Guwahati, Bhopal, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Kolkata in the last 5 months.
