Kolkata/IBNS: Jyoti Basu Memorial Foundation, non-profit and non-political social organization, on the occasion of International Women's Day, has organized the first edition of 'Jyotirmoyee Awards 2020', an initiative to honour the women who have excelled in life amidst adverse circumstances.

The founder of Jyoti Basu Memorial Foundation, Rakhi Basu, was present in the event.

Ace designer Sharbari Datta was present as the chief guest. The event was attended by the crème de la crème from the society.

Ayesha Noor, Kolkata's wonder karate kid and Pratima Podder, Kolkata's first women bus driver, were shortlisted for the Jyotirmoyee Awards 2020.

Since 2013, Ayesha Noor is giving Karate Training to the girls of all ages and of different background at free of cost.

"If there are 10 people in the society and among them 9 are against you then just listen to that 1 person who is with you and by this just keep moving," Pratima Podder said.

"I wish both Ayesha and Pratima the very best so that they can excel in their respective fields and encourage others to be confident and excel in life. We would continue recognizing triumphant women from various walks of life every year," said Rakhi Basu, Founder of Jyoti Basu Memorial Foundation.
