Asha Audio hosts launch of 'Mondo Hote Chai'
Kolkata, May 31 (IBNS): Asha Audio Company on Friday released "Mondo Hote Chai", a compilation of poems recited by Mounita Chattopadhyay, at a city auditorium.
Mounita Chattopadhyay recited some of the poems from her album while it was launched.
Talking about the album, Mounita Chattopadhyay said, "Through the poems, I have endeavoured to uphold the beauty of a woman and also how this beauty is maligned by people".
The album consists of poems written by poets like Krishna Basu, Subhas Mukhopadhyay, Bithi Chattopadhyay, Mallika Sengupta, Sankar Bandopadhyay, Arun Mitra, Taslima Nasrin, Shyamal Bhattacharya and Brata Chakraborty.
Mounita was trained by veteran elocutionist Pradip Ghosh.
Pradip Ghosh, who was present the event, said, "This evening is dedicated to Mounita. The incidents and experiences of today's time have been vividly described in the poems".
Author Ranjan Bandopadhyay said, "What I liked best about the recitation is, how the poems that were recited by Mounita has a common thread that connected one poem to the other".
He said, "A woman can never be wrong. Rather she is wronged and maligned by the society, particularly by the men".
Minister of State for Housing and Youth Affairs, Arup Biswas was also present at the event.
"The heart-wrenching way with which Mounita has recited the poems is definitely commendable. The title of the album is also very appropriate. It preaches how the presence of bad makes us appreciate the good," he said.
Also present at the event were singer Indrani Sen and Kalyani Kazi, the daughter-in-law of Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Mounita has worked for various television and radio channels. 'Mondo Hote Chai' is her first recitation album.
