Kolkata, June 26 (IBNS): The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) hosted its Fine American Whiskeys & The Art of Mixology evening at Afraa Lounge here in Kolkata recently.

This was one-of-its-kind interactive session by DISCUS in the city led by India’s most well known spirits savant, mixologist, and the Indian American Whiskey Ambassador, Shatbhi Basu.

Beam Suntory Inc., the third largest spirits company in the world, showcased some of their exquisite brands from their American Whiskey portfolio during the evening including Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark.

The evening was hosted by India American Whiskey Ambassador, Shatbhi Basu where she held a session to grasp the nuances of American Whiskeys.

This was amalgamated with a first-hand experience to savour various American Whiskeys and Cocktails.

According to Shatbhi Basu, India American Whiskey Ambassador, “It is a refreshing change to be able to show that there is life beyond Scotch whisky. The differences between various whiskeys and their little quirks and characteristic traits, that’s what makes life so exciting. The play of flavour on either side of the Atlantic! Totally Awesome.”

“Bourbon and Tennessee whiskeys make great cocktails because of their definitive flavour, the edginess and depth they bring to the drink. They show, a certain assertiveness, that redefines the taste experience! This is what makes them hugely popular with our consumers,” she added.
