Elon Musk announces new AI startup xAI with former Google, OpenAI engineers
Billionaire Elon Musk on Wednesday announced a new AI startup, xAI, with the launch of its website.
The company's team consists of engineers with previous experience at prominent companies such as Google (owned by Alphabet), Microsoft, and OpenAI.
Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla and owner of Twitter, will be leading the startup.
He has been vocal about his concerns regarding the development of artificial intelligence, advocating for a pause in its advancement and emphasizing the need for regulation within the sector.
"Announcing formation of @xAI to understand reality," Musk said in a tweet on Wednesday.

The xAI website announced that the company will be hosting a Twitter Spaces event on July 14.
This event will likely provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about xAI and its goals.
In March, Elon Musk registered a company called X.AI Corp, which was incorporated in Nevada according to state filings, according to Reuters.
The company's records indicate that Musk serves as the sole director, while Jared Birchall, the managing director of Musk's family office, is listed as the secretary, said the report.
