The popular message-sharing app WhatsApp is working on introducing a new background colour for its web client’s dark theme.

The app is also planning to introduce a new tweaked sidebar.

According to We Beta Info, the new features have been designed to enhance aesthetics and reduce eye strain in low-light environments.

"The new interface is currently in development and it will be available in a future update," the website read.

Moreover, the Meta-owned platform is also developing a feature to allow users to search for others through their usernames, enhancing user privacy and connections.

"This feature is currently in development for the web client and it will be released in a future update,"  We Beta Info reported.

Meanwhile, Whatsapp users can now share their status on the web version of the platform.

"The ability to share status updates finally extends to WhatsApp Web, allowing users to share photos, videos, and text directly to Status from the web client," read the WaBetaInfo website which tracks Whatsapp and its developments.

"This integration is currently available to some beta testers who previously joined the official beta program of the web client," the website further said.
