Amid Covid-19 pandemic, nearly 16 lakhs students to take NEET today
New Delhi/IBNS: Nearly 16 lakhs students will on Sunday take the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) - for admission to medical courses across the country.
Several states have announced special measures, including relaxing of restrictions and transportation amid a huge number of Covid-19 cases.
Earlier, six Indian states had moved the Supreme Court seeking a consideration of its order, that had allowed the central government to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) and the NEET in September, amid Covid-19 spread.
However, the apex court said the exams could be held with strict restrictions on contact and social distancing.
The JEE has already been held and results have been declared.
"I wish good luck to all the students appearing for NEET. I am fully confident that all the candidates, while sticking to the coronavirus protocols, will give the exam with full confidence and patience," Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tweeted on Sunday morning.

Earlier, the National Testing Agency (NTA), which is in charge of conducting competitive entrance tests, has released an extensive list of guidelines for holding the exam.
The guidelines include staggered reporting times and seating to ensure social distancing.
Students have been also directed to wear face masks and gloves.
They have been asked to carry their own hand sanitiser and a water bottle.
