Guwahati/IBNS: In a prestigious ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, the Urdu edition of the acclaimed book 'Great Minds on India,' authored by Salil Gewali, a renowned writer from Shillong, was unveiled by Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.

Distinguished scholars and guests from Assam, West Bengal, Meghalaya, and Manipur graced the event, which also saw Salil Gewali being honored with the esteemed "Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Rashtra Gaurav Samman 2023" by the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Foundation of Howrah, reported EastMojo.

During the event, Governor Kataria commended Gewali for his outstanding contribution to the nation through his remarkable book, which sheds light on the profound influence of ancient Indian literature on Western luminaries.

Following the book's release, Governor Kataria presented a memento to the author, acknowledging his distinctive contribution to the country.

Translated into Urdu by linguist and scholar Dr. Syed Hussain of Hyderabad and edited by Abdul Khalique of Kolkata, the book "Great Minds on India" has garnered significant attention.

Published by the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Foundation in Howrah, the book has been translated into thirteen languages, including German. It is currently available in English, Hindi, Telugu, Gujarati, Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, Manipuri, Nepali, Bengali, German, and now in Urdu.

The Assamese translation of the book is nearing completion and will be released soon, while translations into Garo, Punjabi, Kannada, and Arabic have already commenced. Abdul Khaleque, the foundation's general secretary and the book's editor, has pledged to distribute the Urdu edition to a minimum of sixty countries worldwide, ensuring its global reach and impact.

The book's importance was emphasized by the foundation, an NGO engaged in cultural exchanges and social welfare, which submitted a memorandum to the Assam Governor requesting the publication of the book in foreign languages. This initiative aims to enable people around the world to learn about the insights shared by great scholars regarding India.

Prior to the release, Nanda Kirati Dewan, an internationally acclaimed senior community journalist, briefed the Governor about the book and presented him with a traditional scarf as a gesture of respect.

Subsequently, Abdul Khaleque handed over the Urdu edition of the book for release and presented a memento featuring APJ Abdul Kalam's photo.

Salil Gewali expressed his gratitude for the patronage of the Assam Government and revealed that the book is currently being translated into Assamese and will be published in the near future. Gewali's research work, which began in 1998 when information sources were limited to books and newspapers, has yielded remarkable discoveries about the depth of ancient Indian texts.

He highlighted how renowned scientists such as Schrödinger, Niels Bohr, Julius Oppenheimer, David Bohm, Heisenberg, David Josephson, and many others drew significant inspiration from India's ancient literature in formulating ideas related to quantum physics, linguistics, and more.

The book 'Great Minds on India' serves as a testament to India's rich cultural heritage and intellectual contributions to the world.

It bridges ancient Indian wisdom with modern scientific and philosophical discourse, making it an inspiring read for individuals seeking a deeper understanding of India's profound impact on the global stage.
