Assam: Sivasagar District celebrates 10th District Day with focus on heritage and development

Sivasagar/Assam: Sivasagar, the historic district in Upper Assam, observed its 10th District Day with various vibrant programs aimed at showcasing Assamese culture and promoting tourism.

Dr Ranoj Pegu, the guardian minister, highlighted the government's efforts to take Sivasagar's heritage beyond state boundaries and develop it as a global tourist destination. The event featured a mini-marathon, a heritage walk, and a public meeting attended by education minister Dr Pegu.

He announced plans for a university and a medical college in Sivasagar to uplift education in the region. Over 800 Bihu dancers and dhol players were honored for their participation in a Guinness World Record event, and outstanding students were recognized for their academic achievements.

The Rangghar Beautification Project and the development of sports stadiums in every block were also discussed. The day concluded with empowering activities for women and cultural performances.
