Crafts Council of India showcases new collection
Kolkata, Sept 6 (IBNS): Keeping in mind of Bengal’s festive season, "Kamala", the retail outlet of Crafts Council of India, is organizing an exhibition in Kolkata where great collection of textiles and jewellery will be made available to the citizens.
For this exhibition, a major focus is on crisp cotton sarees with pure silk Ganga-Yamuna borders, and on traditional white sarees with red borders.
Shoppers can also choose from silk telias, double ikats and Mangalgiris from Andhra Pradesh; hand-block printed mulmuls from Akola, Jaipur, and Bagru; textured tussars and matka sarees from Jharkhand; plain and printed Maheshwaris and Chanderis in gossamer fine weaves; woven and printed cotton yardage from Jaipur, Bagru, and Bhuj; colourful Chettinad sarees from Chennai, as well as Shantipuris, Begumpuris, Tangails, and Dhaniakhalis from Bengal.
Apart from garments, accessories and jewellery belonging to erracotta, copper and dokhra from Orissa, Assam and Bengal are also available, said the organizers.
Kasturi Gupta Menon, President, Crafts Council of India said, “Durga Puja is a time for celebration among all families in the city, and we are happy to present our Puja exhibition just in time for shoppers.
Our focus is to make pure hand-woven sarees available from all parts of the country, to make sure they’re affordable, and our extensive collection is just right for the Puja days when everyone wants to look their best.”
According to the organizers, price starts from Rs. 650 onward up to Rs. 10,000 (approximately) for the fancier silks.
The exhibition shall remain open till 13th September.
