CRY hosts children's day out at The Indian Museum
It was a mixed bag celebration of mirth and merriment for around 70 kids, who, accompanied by CRY volunteers, came from different corners of Kolkata and Howrah, to give wings to their imagination, desires, aspirations and the joy of learning.
The prime objective behind the initiative was to bring children from disadvantageous backgrounds together and offer them opportunities for exposure to newer horizons.
Speaking at the event, Jayanta Sengupta, Director, Indian Museum said, “We are observing the International Yoga Day and World Music Day with a commitment to make the Museum more inclusive and Participatory for all. I am glad to collaborate with CRY- Child Rights and You as they are also with us to make the museum place children activity area. I am very happy that children from disadvantaged background from various parts of Kolkata will participate on this occasion to make it even more special."
Raina De, a college-going youth volunteering of CRY, said, "It was a great opportunity for our kids who are usually confined to their communities and denied of the brighter aspects of life, to come out of their mundane everyday reality and gain exposure through this event.”
Sweta Bhattacharya, the spokesperson of Volunteer Action, CRY Kolkata said, “Our volunteers believe that children with limited opportunities do need spaces to nurture their creativity, and one of the ways to provide the children with opportunities to interact with real life heroes who are role models. This will help motivate and inspire children to move towards bigger dreams and accomplishments.”
In the event children participated in a day-long session with a range of fun and frolic, including sessions of life-skill building, canvas painting and educational tour at the Indian Museum.
Actress Koneenica Bannerjee, actor Saheb Chattopadhyay and singer Nipobithi Ghosh attended the session.
