Kolkata, July 10 (IBNS): Kamala, the retail outlet of the Crafts Council of India, is hosting a home decor and tableware exhibition called  'Patram' until July 13 at their store located in ICCR Kolkata.

There are a host of products from different parts of India -- traditional crafts adapted for utility and modern tastes.

Some of the popular items include table runners from Midnapore, papier-mâché holders, boxes, and  containers  from  Odisha,
laundry baskets, jewelry cases, wooden jewelry, cushion covers and table mats from Assam, ikat and hand block printed bedcovers, cushion covers and table cloths from Telangana, Jaipur, Sanganer and Bagru.

Kasturi Gupta Menon (Hony. President, The Crafts Council Of India) said, "We emphasize on specially designed products , developed during the course of the Craft Council’s constant and direct and deep interaction with clusters in villages and communities across India, over the last several decades. This year, at Patram, there are lots of innovative and unique products sucn as specially treated 'shitalpati' sling bags that have been specially designed to carry ipads, folders and laptops."

"Or go for the Bengal terracotta pottery items from Bolpur that are very affordable and include beer mugs, Japanese green tea cups, chutney holders and regular coffee mugs," said Menon. "We also have an absolutely new range of different shades of Jaipur Blue pottery in the form of candle holders, coasters, cups and saucers, mugs, kitchen magnets and even ladies bracelets that make for great quick picks as they are good gift options. Also for the fashionably conscious there are very smart jute sling bags, tote bags, jute durries,  table mats."

Regional Director of ICCR, Gautam  De, and Bangladeshi folk singer Sanam Sumi were also present at the inauguration.
