Five Ways to Absorb More Podcasts
Podcasts are a great way to dive into great commentary, explore new concepts, and even crack a laugh or two. Unfortunately, many people feel they don’t have the time to start listening to podcasts and have never listened to one before. With so many amazing podcasts, it’s a shame that people should miss out on them simply because of a busy schedule. Luckily, there are actually some pockets of time throughout the day that you might be able to fit an episode in if you choose to.
Grinding Chores
We all have chores to do: grocery shopping, cleaning the house, cooking dinner. Why not throw on an episode of a podcast while you get some things done? This can make doing chores seem like less of a hassle and more of an opportunity to multitask and make the grind more enjoyable.
Behind the Wheel
We love listening to music while we drive as much as anybody, but when you’ve heard the same songs so many times, it’s nice to shake things up a little with a podcast. This is perhaps the best time to listen to a podcast, as each of us drives to and from work each day, as well as the store, the gym, and anywhere else you need to go. This can also be done on the bus, on a flight, or even while riding a bike. You don’t need to multitask, just crank up the volume and let the podcast take you away.
Preparing for the Day
Getting ready in the morning can be a slog, so why not start it off right with a cup of coffee and your favorite podcast? There’s a lot to do in the morning: pick out your clothes, take a shower, brush your teeth, throw on make-up or shave, and make breakfast. If you do this every once in a while—or even every morning—you’ll be surprised how many more episodes you can get through without losing time in your day.
Eight-Hour Work Day?
Regardless of where you work, most of us typically indulge in an eight-hour workday. This is an excellent time to grind out an episode or two of your favorite podcast! However, this is also highly dependent upon your job. Someone who writes all day or is in a position where they could just as easily listen to music while they work should definitely try switching things up with a podcast, but other jobs that require constant focus, such as a medical facility like Northwest Surgery Center, may not have the ability to do so. Eight hours is a long time to listen to podcasts, so try exploring a variety or take breaks in between episodes to avoid fatigue.
Pump Some Iron
While it may not give you the adrenaline you need to finish out your last rep, listening to podcasts while you exercise can keep you entertained from start to finish. This is especially helpful if you’re not much of a gym person, as you’ll have a way to pass the time without being totally exhausted and miserable. Plus, it’s super easy to switch to a song if you need the extra push for a certain workout. Listen while lifting, stretching, or even doing cardio!
Pop in Your Earbuds and Smash Play
The next time you’re going through the motions of your day, consider popping in your earbuds and giving a podcast a listen. You never know what you might come across, and maybe you’ll even find one that you enjoy enough to listen to weekly!
