Gionee backs KKR in IPL 2015
On being asked about being in Kolkata, Former Pakistani skipper and KKR's Bowling Coach, Wasim Akram said, "Kolkata has been very close to me over the years. I have played here for the first time in 1987, that was a long long time ago, packed house. What I love about the people of Kolkata, is that they know their sports. They love the game of cricket and they know inside out of the game."
Talking about the strategy of the team in IPL this year, he said, "Yes, we are the defending champions but this is a new tournament. He have to start from the scratch and as a team and I think from tomorrow onwards everybody is relaxed. Everybody is working hard."
Extending its support to the team, Gionee team led by Arvind. R. Vohra, Country CEO and MD, Gionee India and William Lu, President, Gionee unveiled the official KKR jersey for the 2015 season along with KKR team players here.
On being asked about the partnership, Vohra on Tuesday said, " We are super excited to back the defending champions and one of the most popular IPL team, KKR. KKR represents the ture spirit of Gionee with its challenger attitude and we are certain our association will witness greater heights."
He added, "It is about jointly growing the brand value of both KKR and Gionee. I mean it will stupid of me to say that Gionee is as big as KKR. I am actually just going to sit on their back, piggyback and take our brand to the next level."
Gionee also holds the title sponsorship with North East's I-League club Shillong Lajong and they promote the young football talent in the country through Shillong Lajong's training academy.
