Google doodles to celebrate Rukmini Devi's 112th birth anniversary

Mountain View, California, Feb 29 (IBNS) Google on Monday celebrated the late Indian dancer, theosophist and animal rights activist Rukmini Devi Arundale's 112th birth anniversary with a doodle.

Born in 1904 in Madurai, Rukmini Devi excelled in Bharatnatyam and was a recipient of the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.

An avid animal lover, she founded the Animal Welfare Board of India, a statutory body looking after animal welfare laws in the country.
