Kamala opens its autumn collection of textiles for Durga Puja

Kolkata: Kamala, the retail outlet of Crafts Council of India, opened its autumn collection of textiles for Durga Puja on Saturday.

The collection will be available for people till September 21.

Stepping into the store one can find different range of sarees which reflect the changing patterns of tradition.

Kasturi Gupta Menon, Hony President of Crafts Council of India, said, "This year we have an exciting range of stunning collection from the looms of master weavers which are unique and wonderful rich creations .Many of the weavers  are not just national award winners but also Shilpgurus and Padmashrees.

Our collection from  Bengal is very very different and interesting-there is a rich platter of Begumpuris,  vibrant range of tussars by mulberry silk with woven borders from Bankura and New Fulia, Shibori done on matka from Fulia, Sonamukhi sarees from Bankura, pretty Dhonekhalis and Shantipuri sarees in subtle soft shades. We also have very finely woven kantha stitch sarees, stoles and dupattas from Shantiniketan and Murshidabad.

Also there is an absolutely new range of sarees from south like Gadwals in silk and cottons , Chettinad cottons, Ikkats from Telengana  apart from traditional Mekhlas in lovely shades from Assam and many more from other parts of India."
