Kolkata students shine in science Olympiad awards

Kolkata,July 3 (IBNS): Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) recently organized its International Award ceremony to felicitate International winning students, teachers and principals of Olympiad exams for the Academic year 2013-14.

The British Council and BBC Knowledge are associated with SOF for the Olympiads since its inception.

Nine students of Kolkata garnered International ranks in the Olympiad Awards held recently in Delhi.

Those who got International Rank 1 are Agnishpm Chattopadhya from Class 10th of B. D. M International and Sankhyo Halder from Class 11th of St. James School, in International Cyber Olympiad and International English Olympiad, respectively.

Int.ernational rank 1 holder received Gold medal and fifty thousand rupees each.

Others who got International Rank 2 are- Arunangshu Karmakar from class 3rd of Salt Lake School and Rahul Kejriwal from Class 12th of Birla High School, in National Cyber Olympiad;  Sneha Maity from Class 2nd of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 and Dipanwita Guhathakurta from Class 8th of South Point High school, in National Science Olympiad.

International Rank 3 holders are Arvin Dey from Class 5th of Delhi Public School, in National; Cyber Olympiad; Debajyoti Kar from Class 8th of Apeejay School, in National science Olympiad and Yashasvi Kapoor from class 6th of sri Sri Academy, in International English Olympiad.  

The function started with the lighting of the lamp at The Chinmaya Mission Auditorium in Delhi by the Chief Guest Justice Mr. Dipak Misra, Judge Supreme Court of India. Guests of Honor Prof. YS Rajan, Chairman NIT Manipur, Mr. Richard Everett– Director Education, British Council India and Mrs. Suprama Misra also recorded their presence. The winners & guests later sought blessings of Acharaya Chinmaya Mission, Swami Nikhilananda Saraswati.

The function started with the lighting of the lamp at The Chinmaya Mission Auditorium in Delhi by the Chief Guest Justice Dipak Misra, Judge Supreme Court of India.

Y S Rajan, Chairman NIT Manipur, Richard Everett, Director Education, British Council India and Suprama Misra also recorded their presence.

Mahabir Singh, Founder & Executive Director, SOF shared that over 27000 schools from 1360 cities across India and 16 countries participated in the Olympiad exams during 2013-14 and millions of students appeared in the Olympiads.
