Kolkatans groove to Latino numbers at dance fiesta
The fiesta showcased over 18 international artists, including “The Bachata Worls Champion” and “The Salsa World Champion”, covering over 20 dance forms such as Bachata, Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Zumba, Jive, Tango, Jazz.
The fiesta spanned over days of November with nonstop fitness and contemporary dance extravaganza.
One of the participants “Mambo City India” is a Latin dance school of Satyaki Saha that has been promoting Latin Dance culture not only in Kolkata but also nationally and internationally.
The event introduced this time kid’s workshop and performances that presented children of all age group to increase their dance quotient. The event took place at Kolkata’s Dalhousie Institute.
Tiyasha, a student of Pailan World School, said: “It is the first time I have come here and I am tremendously enjoying myself, learning new forms of dance”. She was accompanied by her teacher.
25-year-old Priti Agarwal, a dance teacher, was seen overwhelmed with the extra ordinary fiesta when she said “This is the best. I just do not want to miss any part of it.This is the first time I have come here and I feel the charm of this event is the enthusiasm of each participant where everyone of us are getting to learn something new that we were unaware of.”
IDF sets an agenda spreading the message that “social dancing is not only a way of rewinding or recreation, rather it is a hub for social networking and extending the reaches of the community."
The city witnessed theme parties such as ‘Back to disco’ Night, ‘Palladium Night’ and ‘Hawaiian Night’.
The star studded entourage of artists and dancers includes- Simone and Serena, the Bachat and Cha Cha Cha World Champions from Italy; Carla Voconi- the “Mambo Queen of Europe; Meher Malik from the UAE. Andrea and Steffania, champions at the world salsa meet and finalists of the World Latin Dance Cup and also celebrities like Josue Joseph, an international film maker and producer, of the La-Epoca fame.
