KONSTRUKT 2016: A design and innovation award for architects and civil engineers from West Bengal
The award winners will be determined through a competition, which will be open to students of civil engineering and architecture in colleges in West Bengal as well as to seasoned architects and civil engineers from the state.
Said to be Eastern India’s first design and innovation awards, the event is expected to attract nearly 2000 students from 70 colleges and over 5000 industry professionals.
The award categories have been divided into several groups, such as Residential, Commercial, Leisure, Public, Infrastructure, Landscape, and Restoration.
The competition will be held across six zones: Kharagpur, Bardhaman, Malda, Siliguri, Murshidabad and Kolkata.
Speakers at the inaugural ceremony included Ashish Beriwala, Director SRMB, Debashis Sen, IAS, architect JP Agarwal, Prof. BK Sengupta and architect Gita Balakrishnan.
Beriwala said, “SRMB is proud to associate with KONSTRUKT. Engineers form the backbone of our construction industry and it is high time society started recognizing and appreciating the invaluable contribution made by the engineers. KONSTRUKT may in future become one of the sought after recognition of our industry”.
The website of KONSTRUKT 2016 was also launched at the programme and the trophy unveiled.
Noted architect, Dulal Mukherjee, proprietor, Dulal Mukherjee and Associates said, “The concept will make students and architects become more conscious of what role they are playing.”
KONSTRUKT 2016 is supported by The Indian Institute of Architects, West Bengal Chapter, in association with Faculty of IIT Kharagpur, Jadavpur University, IIEST (BE College Shibpur) and senior members of The Institute of Engineers (Civil Engineering Division, WB).
KONSTRUKT will also offer motivational workshops and seminars for all the participants.
