Loreto College Kolkata hosts annual awards function
Loreto College Kolkata hosted its annual awards ceremony on Dec 14 celebrating the achievements of the students with a vibrant cultural programme.
According to a release by the college, the Annual Awards Ceremony of Loreto College, Kolkata for the academic year 2023–24 was attended by current and former students, parents, faculty members, donors, and other well-wishers, acknowledging the outstanding achievements of students from the graduating batch of 2024.
The awards recognised excellence in various fields, celebrating the diverse talents and dedicated efforts of the students.
The ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp. followed by a prayer service and a vibrant cultural programme.
The welcome address was delivered by Sr. Dr. A. Nirmala, Teacher-in-Charge of Loreto College, who congratulated the recipients for their academic and co-curricular successes and emphasised the institution’s continued commitment to nurturing the students’ potential.
The event was graced by Prof. Suranjan Das, Vice-Chancellor of Adamas University, as the Chief Guest.
Prof. Das spoke of the transformative power of education to ignite young minds, as well as the responsibility of students to use their learning to contribute meaningfully to society. He presented awards to each of the student achievers, even as he encouraged the recipients to pursue their future goals with spirit and integrity.
The Awards Ceremony was followed by the presentation of the college’s Annual Report by the Student President Sanjula Shanker and Vice-President Tanushua Goswami.
The report provided a comprehensive overview of the various activities and initiatives that the college had undertaken over the past academic year. These included academic events, cultural festivals, outreach programmes, green initiatives, research endeavours, and collaborative ventures, all of which contributed to the holistic development of the students.
As the proceedings drew to a close, the audience joined in the collective singing of the Loreto Chorus—a moment that brought all the attendees together in joyous celebration.
