SSC MTS Syllabus and Exam Pattern for Paper 1 and Paper 2

SSC MTS notification is out - you can fill the form from 22nd April 2019 to 29th May 2019. The MTS exam is conducted in two phases - Paper 1 is scheduled from 2nd August to 6th September 2019 and Paper 2 is scheduled on 17th November 2019.

With the release of SSC MTS 2019 notification, candidates must be searching everywhere for the detailed syllabus of the same. To help you in your search, here we are providing you the detailed SSC MTS syllabus of both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

But, before discussing the syllabus, let us put some light on the paper pattern of SSC MTS.

SSC MTS Paper Pattern 2019

SSC MTS  is conducted in 2 stages - Paper 1 and Paper 2, followed by a skill test. Paper 1 is based on objective questions while Paper 2 is a descriptive test.

SSC MTS Exam Pattern for Paper 1

It is an MCQ based examination, where 100 questions are asked.

The Paper is of 90 minutes for everyone but visually impaired candidates get 120 minutes to complete the paper.

For every correct answer, +1 is rewarded and for every incorrect answer, 0.25 is deducted.

All the questions, except the English questions, are asked bilingually.

SSC MTS Exam Pattern for Paper 2

It tests the writing skills of a candidate. In this test, the candidate will have to write either an essay or a letter.

SSC MTS Paper 2 Syllabus

Paper 2 is a descriptive test, in which candidates are required to write a short essay or a letter. Only those candidates who have successfully cleared Paper 1 are eligible to appear for Paper 2. Candidates are given a choice between an essay or a letter. The essay needs to be around 200-250 words and if they are opting for the letter, it needs to be around 150 words. This paper is qualifying in nature.

● A letter to the Branch Manager regarding the transfer of your account.
● A letter to your friend congratulating him on his success on clearing UPSC Examination.
● A letter to the concerned authorities regarding the poor maintenance of the drainage system in your locality and requesting for taking immediate action.

A few tips to keep in mind

1. Candidates must adhere to the word count, as mentioned in the question.
2. Whatever you write must be relevant to the topic.
3. You need to write the essay or the letter in the correct sequence - the introduction should briefly give an idea of the topic, the body must talk about the topic in detail and you must end your essay/letter by giving a satisfactory conclusion.

Final Selection

Only those candidates, who have cleared the cut-off of paper 1 and qualified Paper 2, are selected for the next round. Following that, the selected candidate will have to apply for a skill test in the form of Paper 3.
