Uttar Pradesh to hold BEd entrance exam on Aug 9

Lucknow/UNI Lucknow University (LU) will hold its entrance test for BEd courses on August 9, sources said on Saturday.

About 4 lakh students are likely to appear for the test during the pandemic.

Lucknow University Teachers Association have opposed the decision and has demanded the exam to be postponed as several teachers have been tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

LU VC Prof Alok Rai, who is also the chairman of the Examination Committee said here on Saturday that all the arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the BEd entrance exams with adopting strict COVID-19 guidelines.

Mask has been made compulsory for the examinees besides sitting arrangements would be done as per social distancing norms with use of sanitisers before entry in the examination hall.

He said that for the first time Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be used for identification of aspirants to prevent 'Munna Bhais' (proxies) and other irregularities.

Prof Rai said that 1,089 examination centres have been made in 73 districts and 4,31,904 candidates were eligible for the exams to be held in two sessions.

The first session would be held from 0900 hrs to 1200 hrs snd second session from 1400 hrs to 1700 hrs. All the examination centres have been equipped with CCTV cameras to prevent cheating and the entire exams would be webcast.

Lucknow has 82 BEd examination centres and around 35,000 students are expected to appear at each centre.
