The 2024 Olympics got underway on July 26 in Paris with a spectacular opening ceremony as thousands of athletes sailed along the River Seine past electrifying performances on bridges and river banks and rooftops. The 16-day sporting carnival is witnessing the best of the world vying for medals in the city of love with new records being set and historic victories registered. We bring you all the updates.

Indian debutant wrestler Aman Sehrawat won a bronze medal in the men's 57kg wrestling at the Paris Olympics on Friday. With this India has bagged six medals-one silver and five bronze-at the ongoing Games.

Vinesh Phogat to appeal in Court of Arbitration for Sport against Olympics' decision to disqualify her, asks for silver

Vinesh Phogat, who was earlier disqualified from the women's 50kg wrestling final at the Paris Olympics 2024 for being 100 grams overweight than the permissible limit in a Gold Medal match, has decided to file an appeal in the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the decision.

She has asked for the Olympic silver to be given to her.

PV Sindhu's bid for a third Olympic medal ended in disappointment as she was defeated by China's He Bing Jiao, 19-21, 14-21. The first game was closely contested, but Sindhu struggled to keep pace with the Chinese sixth seed. Sindhu, who won silver at Rio 2016 and a bronze by defeating He at Tokyo 2020, was unable to replicate her past successes.

This setback followed another disappointment for India, as men's doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were eliminated in the quarterfinals, losing 21-13, 14-21, 16-21 to Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.
