Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Kolkata beginning on Saturday. Modi's visit to Kolkata is taking place amid the widespread protests against the Centre over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, National Register of Citizens (NRC), National Population Register (NPR) and also the assault on Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students.

PM Narendra Modi and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee meets in Raj Bhawan in Kolkata on Saturday.

Speaking after her meet with the PM, Mamata Banerjee described it as a 'courtesy call'.

She said she informed the PM about the Rs. 38,000 crore pending to recevied by the state from the Centre.

Banerjee said she raised the issues like CAA, NRC and NPR during her meet.

"I informed him that we are against CAA,NPR and NRC," she said.

"She said we want them to be withdrawn," she said.
