India witnesses biggest jump in COVID-19 cases, death toll stands at 12948

The COVID-19 outbreak seems to continue hitting India hard as the country witnessed a massive spike of 14516 cases in a single day, as per government data released on Saturday.

India recorded over 3.95 cases so far.

There are 168269 active cases in the country at present.

So far, 213830 people have recovered from the highly infectious disease.

 Death toll due to COVID-19 stands at 12948.

India witnessed the highest daily spike of 13,586 COVID-19 cases, as per Indian government released data on Friday.



The number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 3,80,532.

The death toll due to the highly infectious disease in India currently stands at 12573.

There are 163248 active cases in the country at present.

So far, 204710 people have recovered.

UP's Sambhal adds 16 COVID-19 cases, tally rises to 251

With 16 more people testing positive on Thursday, the total number of patients infected with the novel coronavirus have increased to 251 in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh district.

Assistant Research Officer Sanjeev Kumar here said that fresh cases include eight people from Sambhal, seven from Waniyakheda and one from Gunnaur.

Death toll rises to 71 in J&K, 35 fatalities in 14 days

The death toll due to COVID-19 has risen to 71 in the Union Territory of J&K with seven people, including five from Kashmir and two from Jammu, dying due to the disease during the last 24 hours.

With these deaths, 35 people have lost their lives due to infection in 14 days, and 56 people in last one month in J&K, where the COVID-19 positive cases have surpassed 5400.

COVID-19 cases near 100,000 in Bangladesh with biggest daily jump of over 4,000 new patients

Bangladesh reported over 4,000 new COVID-19 patients on Wednesday, the biggest daily jump since the virus was first reported on March 8 in the country.



Professor Nasima Sultana, a senior Health Ministry official, said in an online briefing on Wednesday afternoon that "4,008 new COVID-19 positive cases and 43 deaths from the virus were also reported in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh."

"The total number of positive cases is 98,489 and the death toll stands currently at 1,305," she added.

According to the official, 17,527 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh.

She said 1,925 more COVID-19 patients have recovered during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries so far to 38,189.

Bangladesh on Tuesday recorded the largest number of 3,862 cases and 53 deaths.

PM Modi, Justin Trudeau discuss COVID-19 situation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau interacted on Wednesday as they updated each other on the evolving situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two leaders also discussed the possibilities of international collaboration to address the health and economic crisis.

"They agreed that the India-Canada partnership can be a force for good in the post-COVID world, including for advancing humanitarian values in the global discourse," read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

The leaders emphasised the need to strengthen multilateral institutions including the WHO, and agreed to work closely together at various international fora, on health, social, economic and political issues, read the statement.
Prime Minister Modi warmly appreciated the assistance extended by Canadian authorities in recent days to the Indian citizens in Canada, and for facilitating their repatriation to India.

Prime Minister Trudeau similarly expressed his happiness at the facilitation offered for the return of Canadian citizens from India.

India's Covid toll nears 12,000 with record jump of 2,000 in 24 hours

India's Covid-19 toll on Wednesday neared 12,000 with a record jump of over 2,000 deaths due to the contagion in the last 24 hours.

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India's Covid toll now stands at 11,903.

With 10,974 new Covid cases reported between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, the total number of infections across the country increased to 3,54,065.

India fights COVID19: Death toll reaches 9900

With over 10,000 new cases recorded in the past 24  hours, the number of COVID-19 cases in India now stands at 3,43,091, as per Ministry of Health data released on Tuesday.

The death toll due to the disease stands at 9,900.

So far, 180012 people have recovered from the highly infectious disease.

However, there are 153178 active cases in the nation at present.

The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) worldwide has surpassed 8 million, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The global case tally stands at 8,014,554, and the death toll is at 436,306.

A total of 3,838,361 people have recovered from COVID-19, according to the university.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11 declared the outbreak of the new coronavirus a pandemic.

According to the latest WHO data, more than 7,823,000 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the world, and over 431,000 people have died from the disease.

Russia records 8,246 COVID-19 cases

Russia has registered 8,246 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall tally to 5,37,210, the national coronavirus response center said on Monday.

"Over the past 24 hours, Russia has confirmed 8,246 COVID-19 cases in 83 regions, of which 2,832 (34.3 per cent) have been detected actively, with people showing no clinical symptoms," the response center said in a statement.

Russia has so far recorded 5,37,210 COVID-19 cases in 85 regions (+1.6 per cent), the center added.

Of all the new cases, 1,359 have been registered in Moscow, 689 in the Moscow region and 252 in St Petersburg (compared to yesterday's 1,477, 717 and 256, respectively).

Over 80 per cent of the new patients in Moscow are younger than 65, the Russian capital's coronavirus response center said.

"The city has registered 207,264 coronavirus cases so far. As many as 40.8 per cent of the new patients are aged between 18 and 45, 35.3 percent are aged between 46 and 65, 10.7 percent are aged between 66 and 79, 5.9 percent are older than 80, and 7.3 percent are children," the response center said in a statement.

The country's COVID-19 death toll has grown by 143 to 7,091.  

Newly-wed man tests COVID-19 positive in Palghar

A 22-year-old man, who tied nuptial knot three days ago, tested COVID-19 positive on Monday in Jawhar taluka of this district.

Employed as a lab assistant, the man got himself tested for the pandemic prior to his marriage held on June 12 while the medical report was received Monday.

In an immediate preventive measure, he along with his spouse and 64 other marriage attendees have been sent into quarantine, apprised tehsildar Santosh Shinde.

Sharp spike in COVID-19 cases: Delhi reports whooping 2,224 infections

Delhi on Sunday registered the highest ever single day spike of 2,224 novel coronavirus infections, taking the city's tally to 41,182.

As per the state health bulletin, with 56 fatalities reported since Saturday, city's death toll has now mounted to 1327.

Cases under active medical supervision have zoomed to 24032 in the city, while 695 patients have occupied the ICU beds. As many as 182 are fighting against the contagion on ventilator support.

Chinese mainland reports 49 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Chinese health authority said Monday that it received reports of 49 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Sunday, of which 39 were domestically transmitted and 10 were imported.

Of the domestically transmitted cases, 36 were reported in Beijing and three in Hebei Province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

No deaths related to the disease were reported Sunday, according to the commission.

COVID-19 death toll in India touches 9520

With the reporting of 11502 new cases across the country, the number of COVID-19 cases in India now touched 332,424, as  per Ministry of Health data released on Monday.

The death toll due to the disease has reached 9520.

There are 153106 active cases in the country at present.
