Donald Trump's lead over Biden in Georgia shrinks to 665 votes

06 Nov 2020, 03:50 pm

Moscow/Sputnik: Incumbent US President Donald Trump retains the lead in the state of Georgia, but Democratic challenger Joe Biden is only 665 votes behind, with 99 percent of the votes counted, AP results showed Friday.

The election was held on Tuesday, but there was a large number of mail-in ballots and plenty of people voted in advance amid the coronavirus pandemic, so the counting could be particularly complicated.

The winner has not been projected for four swing states yet, and the race remains tight. Some news organizations count Arizona as undecided as well, although others have given it to Biden.

Donald Trump's lead over Biden in Pennsylvania decreases to 0.8 percentage point

Washington/Sputnik: The lead of US President Donald Trump over his contender, Democratic candidate Joe Biden, in the battleground state of Pennsylvania has sunk to 0.8 percentage point, Fox News reported.

After the count of 90 percent of ballots, Trump has 49.8 percent of votes, while Biden 49 percent. At the moment, the incumbent president has gained 51,000 votes more than his opponent in this battleground state.

Philadelphia is one of five states that have not announced the results of the vote count yet.

On Thursday, Philadelphia temporarily halted the vote count over the lawsuit of Trump, who demanded that his campaign observers must get access to the process. Later, the vote count has been resumed, while the Trump campaign has filed a federal lawsuit to suspend the process.

Donald Trump's campaign says President will win Arizona after votes counted

06 Nov 2020, 07:53 am

Washington/Sputnik: Donald Trump's campaign expects him to overtake Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in the crucial state of Arizona when the vote counting is finished, campaign's deputy manager David Bossie said in a press conference in Phoenix.

"If the current trends continue, as we have seen, because we follow the science, President Trump is going to overtake Joe Biden, and we're going to win Arizona," Bossie said on Thursday.

According to the campaign officials, Arizona still has thousands of uncounted votes favoring the president.

"The news organizations have prematurely called Arizona… What we're going to do is prove them wrong," Bossie stated.

Fox News and the Associated Press have made a projection in Arizona placing Biden ahead of Trump in the presidential race.

According to Fox, Biden is leading in the state, which carries eleven electoral college votes, 50.5-48.1% after 88 percent of the ballots have been counted.

Counting in Pennsylvania paused until Friday

05 Nov 2020, 10:43 pm

The counting in Pennsylvania has been paused following disputes over the arrival time of the voting ballots on Nov 3.

Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, will not count anymore ballots until tomorrow because of a court agreement over some 29,000 disputed ballots, CNN reported quoting County Councilwoman Bethany Hallam.

The agreement stems from a legal challenge over misprinted ballots that had to be reissued to some voters. The county agreed not to count the potential pool of reprinted ballots until Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. ET – the deadline for receiving mail-in votes that were sent by Election Day.

They will resume counting on Friday.

She added that Joe Biden will declare victory once the campaign believes they have reached that number, regardless of whether news outlets have called those races.

"I think that at the end of the day we always said that the goal was to get 270 electoral votes and we feel very confident that after the vote’s been counted, that’s where the vote is going to be: above 270. And that’s how you win the presidency," Dunn told reporters.

Asked if Biden would declare victory even if all the states' results had not yet been called by the networks, she replied, "If we feel comfortable that he has 270 electoral votes, yeah."

Donald Trump campaign says it will request Wisconsin recount

05 Nov 2020, 11:31 am

The Donald Trump campaign said that it will “immediately” request for a recount of votes in Wisconsin.

But under Wisconsin law, a campaign can’t petition for said recount until the Wisconsin Election Commission completes the canvass from county election boards, CNN reported.

"Despite ridiculous public polling used as a voter suppression tactic, Wisconsin has been a razor thin race as we always knew that it would be. There have been reports of irregularities in several Wisconsin counties which raise serious doubts about the validity of the results. The President is well within the threshold to request a recount and we will immediately do so,” Bill Stepien, Trump campaign manager, said in a statement.
