Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who is also known for her performance in Hollywood movies and US TV series Quantico, exercised her franchise on Monday.

Got bed tea very late, unaware of Asansol violence: TMC candidate Moon Moon Sen

Trinamool Congress candidate from Asansol, Moon Moon Sen, said she was unaware of the Asansol Lok Sabha poll violence as she woke up late for delayed bed tea. "They gave me my bed tea very late so I woke up very late. What can I say? I really don't know," Sen, an outgoing MP from Bankura, said while interacting with NDTV.

Around 17 per cent turnout till 9 am in West Bengal

An estimated 17 per cent of 1,34,56,491 electorate exercised their franchise inthe first two hours this morning to decide the fate of 68 candidates in the fourth of the seven-phase election to eight South Bengal Lok Sabha seats of Baharampur, Krishnanagar, Ranaghat, Bardhaman Purba, Bardhaman–Durgapur, Asansol, Bolpur and Birbhum.

Average voter turnout of 12% recorded in Jharkhand in first two hours

An average voter turnout of 12 per cent has been recorded till 9 am on the three Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand -- Chatra, Lohardaga(ST) and Palamu (SC)-- where voting is currently underway.

TMC men influencing voters by standing near EVM, alleges BJP's Babul Supriyo

Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Asansol candidate from West Bengal has alleged that the Trinamool Congress men are influencing voters by standing near the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in Jamuria.

Violence reported from Bengal's Asansol, BJP MP Babul Supriyo's car vandalised

Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Union Minister Babul Supriyo's car has been vandalised in Asansol area of West Bengal on a day when several constituencies in the state are voting in the Lok Sabha polls.

Meanwhile, clashes between TMC workers and security personnel has been reported from polling booth number 199 in Asansol. 

Babul Supriyo told media: "I will visit the booths from where reports of violence have emerged."

Meanwhile, voters in West Bengal’s Pandabesar under Asansol constituency have boycotted polling in two booths. They are demanding central forces in the booths.

Violence was reported in the previous three phases of the polling in Bengal as well.

In Asansol, the contest is between TMC's Moon Moon Sen and BJP's Babul Supriyo.

Narendra Modi urges voters to exercise their franchise

Indian Prime Minister Nartendra Modi on Monday urged voters to exercise their franchise. He asked young voters to participate in the process and vote. 

"Another phase of the General Elections begins today. I hope those voting today do so in large numbers and break the voting records of the previous three phases.

A special appeal to young voters to head to the polling booth and exercise their franchise," Modi tweeted.
