India restarts economy by limiting anti-Covid lockdown to containment zones till Jun 30

In a bid to set the economy of the country rolling, the central government on Saturday amid the massive surge in Covid-19 cases limited the lockdown to only containment zones (where maximum positive cases are reported) till Jun 30.

On a day the country of 1.3 billion people registered the highest spike in Novel Coronavirus cases (7,964), the government allowed to open up major segments of socio-economic life- religious places, hotels, restaurants, hospitality services, shopping malls- outside the containment zones from Jun 8.

Schools, colleges, educational/training/coaching institutions, as the Home Ministry said, will open in July after consultations with 36 states and union territories.

However, international passenger flights, metro rail, cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars and auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places will be closed for now.

In the Unlock 1.0, night curfew, a new guideline which was issued by the Home Ministry during the announcement of the lockdown 4.0, will now remain active from 9 pm to 7 am.

In the lockdown 4.0, the night curfew, which prohibits movement of people for any reason other than essential services, was effective from 7 pm to 7 am.

Andhra Pradesh: 70 new COVID-19 positive cases reported, tally touches 2944

There was no letup in the spike of Coronavirus positive cases in Andhra Pradesh as 70 fresh cases were reported during the last 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 2,944.

A health bulletin said here on Saturday that 9,504 samples of people were tested from 9 am on Friday to 9 am this morning and of which 70 people were tested positive.

However, no death has been reported during the last 24 hours and the pandemic had so far claimed 60 lives.

As many as 2,092 patients have been discharged from various hospitals after they had recovered and 792 patients are still undergoing treatment, the bulletin said.

Bengal cricket team selector tests positive for Covid-19

Bengal cricket team selector Sagarmoy Sensharma has tested positive for Novel Coronavirus or Covid-19, said Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Abhishek Dalmiya on Friday, media reports said.

Sensharma, a former Bengal pace bowler, is learnt to have contracted the virus from his wife.

He has been admitted to a hospital in the eastern part of Kolkata.

India witnesses massive spike in COVID-19 cases

India witnessed another highest spike in the number of COVID-19 infection cases in the past 24 hours as the death toll due to the disease also neared 5000-mark on Saturday, as per Ministry of Health released data.



India registered 7964 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours while 265 deaths during the same period.

The data includes 86422 active cases.

At present, the deat toll due to the highly infectious disease stands at 4971.

So far, 82369 people have cured in the country from COVID-19.

West Bengal Minister and TMC leader Sujit Bose tests Covid-19 positive

West Bengal Fire Minister and senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Sujit Bose, who was working on ground for migrant workers returning to the state, has tested positive for Novel Coronavirus or Covid-19, media reports said. 
 
His test results have shown mild Covid-19 symptoms. 
 
The contact tracing has already been initiated to stem the spread of Covid-19.

India registers highest single-day spike with 7466 new COVID-19 cases, death toll touches 4706

India witnessed another major day of spike in the number of COVID-19 cases as 7,466 new cases were reported from the country in the past 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health data released on Friday.

 The major surge in the cases took the overall tally in the country to  1,65,799.

India adds new 6,566 Covid-19 cases, registers 194 deaths in 24 hours

India, the Asian country comprising 28 states and six union territories, reported 6,566 new Covid-19 cases and 194 deaths in the last 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

With the addition of new cases, the Covid cases in India jumped to 1,58,333.

With the new 194 deaths, the toll now stands at 4,531.

Maharashtra, where the financial capital of the country Mumbai is located, is the worst affected region adding more than one-third of the total Coronavirus cases in India.

The western state has so far reported  56,948 cases including 1,897 deaths.

India's COVID-19 recovery rate is now 42.4 pct: Health Ministry

Despite rising number of cases, Indian Health Ministry on Wednesday gave some relief to people by announcing that the nation's recovery rate from COVID-19 has improved to 42.4 percent.



" A total of 1,51,767 cases have been reported from the country in which 64,426 persons have been cured and the recovery rate is pegged at 42.4%," the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

The Ministry said India's fatality rate is 2.86 percent in comparison to world average of 6.36 percent.

India's Covid tally crosses 1.5 lakh, toll stands at 4,337

India added fresh 6,387 Covid-19 cases to take the total number of positive patients over 1.5 lakh including deaths of more than 4,000 people across the nation.

As per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 1,51,767 people including 64,426 cured or discharged and 4,337 deceased have so far been infected in the country of 1.3 billion people.

Maharashtra, the western state, is the worst affected region adding more than one-third of the total Coronavirus cases in India.

The financial capital of the country has so far reported 54,758 cases including 1,792 deaths.

West Bengal reports 193 positive cases in 24 hours

India's Covid fatality among lowest in the world: Health Ministry

The Health Ministry of India on Tuesday asserted that the fatality rate due to the pandemic Coronavirus or Covid-19 in the country was among the lowest in the world, a day after the Asian nation registered the 10th highest confirmed cases worldwide.

Lav Agarwal, the joint secretary of India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on Tuesday said, "Our Covid-19 case fatality rate (death rate among confirmed cases) was 3.30% on Apr 15, it has now come down to 2.87%, which is amongst the lowest in the world."

"Compared to 69.9 Covid-19 cases per lakh population for the world as a whole, 10.7 cases per lakh population have been reported in India. This is due to the lockdown and our containment efforts," he added.

Agarwal stated India's fatality rate is 2.87% at a time the world's mortality rate is 6.45%, much higher than the Asian country.

While 4.4 deaths per lakh population were reported worldwide, India has registered 0.3% deaths per lakh population, added the joint secretary.

48 new positive cases reported in Andhra Pradesh, one dies

There was no let up in the rise of Coronavirus positive cases in Andhra Pradesh as 48 fresh cases were reported since the last 24 hours and a patient died taking the death toll to 57 in the state.

A health bulletin here on Tuesday said that 8,148 samples of people were tested from 9 am on Monday to 9 am this morning and of which 48 persons were tested positive taking the total number of cases to 2,719.

One patient died of Coronvirus in East Godavari district.

90-year-old man dies of COVID-19 in Kashmir, toll at 24

A 90-year-old man, who was tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, died at a hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday, taking the death toll due to the infection in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to 24.

With this, three persons have lost their lives due to the infection during the last 24 hours and 13 people in 10 days in J&K, where the COVID-19 positive cases have surpassed 1700 mark.

India reports 6,535 fresh Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, tally crosses 1,45,000

India, a country of 1.3 billion people, reported fresh 6,535 fresh Covid-19 cases in 24 hours taking the tally over 1,45,000 on Tuesday.

As per the data provided by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 1,45,380 people including 60,491 cured/discharged and 4,167 deceased have been infected with the pandemic virus.

Maharashtra, the worst affected state, has reported more than 50 per cent of India's total Covid cases.

The western state has reported 52,667 cases including 15,786 cured/discharged and 1,695 deceased.

Maharashtra is followed by the southern state of Tamil Nadu (17,082), Gujarat (14,460) and Delhi (14,053) in terms of the infected numbers.

India records whopping 6767 coronavirus cases in last 24 hours

India recorded yet another biggest-single day jump after 6,767 new patients of coronavirus were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 1,31,868 including 3,867 deaths, Union Health Ministry informed on Sunday.

This is the third consecutive day that the country reported over 6,000 cases of the highly contagious virus per day.

At least 147 patients died in the last 24 hours.

Karnataka: Covid-19 cases swells to 1959

Covid 19 positive cases in Odisha on Saturday surged to 1269 with detection of fresh 80 cases from as many as 14 districts.

Two more new districts- Gajapati and Nabarangpur reported coronavirus during the last 24 hours, taking the total districts to 26 under the grip of the dreaded virus.

Official sources said while four positive cases reported from Gajapati district, a singe case was found in Nabarangpur district.

Out of the total 80 fresh cases,71 cases were found from the quarantine centres, two from home quarantine and the rest seven are local cases.

The authority claimed that there is no evidence of communal transmission in the state.

Covid-19 figure takes massive jump, tally over 1,25,000

The Covid-19 figure registers a massive jump on Saturday by adding over 6,000 new cases taking the overall tally over 1,25,000.

As per Ministry of Heath and Family Welfare, 1,25,101 Covid cases including  51,784 cured and 3,720 deaths have been reported.

Maharashtra, the western state of India, is still topping the list with 44,582 cases followed by Tamil Nadu (14,753), Gujarat (13,268) and Delhi (12,319).

Coronavirus positive cases cross 30,000-mark in Bangladesh

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases on Friday surpassed 30,000-mark with 1694 fresh cases reported in the last 24-hour.

The country on Friday also recorded 24 more coronavirus-related deaths, the highest single-day spike, taking the tally to 432, the Directorate General of Health Services ADG prof Dr Nasima Sultana said in DGHS' regular bulletin on coronavirus.

In the last 24 hours, samples of 9,727 people were examined. Among them, 1694 tested positive for the Covid-19, bringing the country's total number of positive cases to 30,205.

The official said the number of total recovery from the deadly virus stood at 6,190. Of these, 588 people recovered in the last 24 hours.

Assam reports four more COVID-19 positive cases, state tally surges to 214

Assam on Friday has registered four more COVID-19 positive cases taking the state tally to 214.

The new cases have been reported from Sivasagar, Lakhimpur and Udalguri districts.

Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, out of four new cases, two cases were reported from Sivasagar and one each from Lakhimpur and Udalguri districts.

He tweeted, “Two persons from Sivasagar in quarantine at our Jorhat centre are found #COVID19 +. Total cases 214.”

 

India reports over 6,000 cases in 24 hours, tally crosses 1,18,000

India reported 6,088 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours taking the Coronavirus tally across the country over 1,18,000.

As per Ministry of Heath and Family Welfare, 1,18,447 Covid cases including 48,534 cured and 3,583 deaths have been reported.

Maharashtra, the western state of India, is still topping the list with 41,642 cases followed by Tamil Nadu (13,967), Gujarat (12,905) and Delhi (11,659).

Rajasthan records 61 new Covid cases, tally reaches 5,906

Rajasthan on Wednesday added 61 fresh cases to its novel coronavirus tally, pushing the total number of infections to 5,906, while the death toll stood at 143.

Among the fresh cases, maximum 17 surfaced in Nagaur, followed by 11 in Dungarpur, eight each in Jhunjhunu and Sikar, six in Kota, four in Sirohi, three in Udaipur, two in Jaipur while one each in Jhalawar and Baran.

As per the Health department, the active cases in the state are 1,890 while 3,068 patients have recovered, of which 2,666 have been discharged.

Chinese mainland reports 5 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Chinese health authority said on Wednesday that it received reports of five new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Tuesday, of which one was imported and reported in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The other four cases were domestically transmitted in Jilin Province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

The number of Corona-infected patients in Aurangabad district has risen to 1,073 registering 51 fresh cases on Tuesday morning, the district administration said.

Among the cases, 37 males were infected by the highly contagious disease.

Escalating the tension level, India's coronavirus cases crossed the whopping mark of one lakh with over 3000 deaths across the country related to the highly contagious infection.

As India entered the fourth phase of the anti-coronavirus lockdown, the total number of positive cases in India stands at 1,00,161 with a massive number of patients being reported from Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu among others.

The death toll presently touched 3,144 even as the nationwide lockdown was extended up to May 31 by the Centre.

Rajasthan registers 140 new cases, tally reaches 5,342

Rajasthan on Monday added 140 fresh cases to its novel coronavirus tally, pushing the total number of infections to 5,342, while the death toll stood at 133.

As per the Health department, the latest fatalities are of a 66-year-old person from industrial area of Kota district and 20-year-old woman from Didwana town of Nagaur. Both were undergoing treatment at SMS Hospital in Jaipur.

Odisha: Police personnel, court staff put on quarantine as an accused tests Covid positive

The Kumbharpara police station staff were put under home quarantine after an accused arrested by police on last Thursday and detained inside the police station tested positive.

Puri Superintendent of police Umashankar Dash said some staffs of Kumbarpara police station were put under quarantine and their swab sample would be taken for testing as the accused tested corona positive.

The SP said further action would be taken as on the advice of health department while contact tracing of the accused patient was on.

It is learnt that the accused had returned from Delhi and his swab was collected for testing .

Covid-19: 37 more cases found, tally reaches 1363 in Bihar

With the detection of 37 more new cases, the number of Coronavirys positive cases has increased to 1363 in Bihar so far.

Principal Secretary of Health Department Sanjay Kumar said here that of these cases 14 were found in Begusarai, 9 in Gopalganj, 6 in Munger, 5 in Nalanda and 1 each in Nawada and Purnea.

He said that in Begusarai 6 cases were reported from Gadhpura, four from Teghra, two from Bhagwanpur and one each from Khudwandpur and Begusarai.

He said that among 37 new cases five were females and three baby boys of 1, 3 and 5 years old.

Karnataka reports 22 fresh Covid-19 cases

Karnataka on Monday registered 22 fresh cases of Covid-19 from all the districts including the green zone Raichur and Koppal.

According to the Mid-day health Bulletin released by the Karnataka government, out of 22 fresh positive cases, Kalaburagi recorded 6 cases, Raichur 6, Yadgir 5 cases, Koppal 3cases, Bidar and Ballari recorded one each positive cases.

The Health bulletin also said that the Raichur and Koppal district which were so far safe 'Green Zone' district from last three months on Monday reported 6 and 3 Covid-19 positive cases each and all patients who receive positive were linked with Maharashtra's tour.

In Kalaburagi their is no respite from Coronavarious case from last one week and on Monday reported six more fresh positive cases including a six months baby, the source said.

Of the new cases five cases had come from Mumbai and one of the Covid-19 hit containment area of the city, the source added. Thus the total numbers of positive case in Kalaburagi shut up to 110.

Shanghai reports 1 new COVID-19 case

Shanghai reported one domestically transmitted COVID-19 case Sunday and zero increase in imported cases, the municipal health commission said Monday.

The confirmed case is a job seeker from the city of Qianjiang, central China's Hubei Province, who came to Shanghai on May 14. On May 15, he voluntarily went to a medical institution to apply for a serological test, when he tested positive for the virus.

He was isolated on the same day and started to show symptoms during the period. On May 17, he was given a nucleic acid test by the Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the result was positive.

A total of 20 people in close contact with the patient in Shanghai have been tracked and put under isolated observation. All places where the patient had visited have been disinfected.

Thailand reopens schools on July 1 as part of COVID-19 restrictions lifting - Minister

All the Thai schools, closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, will reopen on July 1 and regular classes will resume, Education Minister Nataphol Teepsuwan said on Monday.

"This is the final decision, all the schools across the country will open their doors again on July 1," Nataphol said, as aired by the state NBT broadcaster.

If the epidemiological situation deteriorates, schools will likely switch to online classes again, the minister added.

Mexico’s Coronavirus cases tally nears 50,000 ahead of planned restriction easing

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Mexico has risen by 2,075 (2,112 yesterday) to 49,219 ahead of the gradual lifting of coronavirus-related restrictions, which will begin on Monday, according to the country's Health Ministry.

Over a 24-hour period, Mexico confirmed 132 new coronavirus-related deaths (278 yesterday), bringing the total number of fatalities to 5,177.

On Friday, the number of new coronavirus cases in Mexico increased by 2,437 - the largest daily increase in the country since the start of the outbreak, according to the country’s Health Ministry.

India records over 5000 COVID-19 cases on a single day, death toll now stands at 3029

Over 5000 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in India on Sunday as the total number of infected people in the country now stands at 96,169, as per data released by the Ministry of Health.

The country has added  5,242 new COVID-19 positive cases, marking the biggest single-day spike.

The death toll due to COVID-19 now stands at 3029.

There are 56316 active cases in the country at present.
So far, 36823 people have recovered from the highly infectious disease in India.

India entered the fourth phase of the extended lockdown from Monday.
