Election Commission announces Lok Sabha polls from April 11
New Delhi: The Election Commission announced the much-awaited dates of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in India on Sunday. The seven phase election starts from April 11. The seventh phase of polling will be held on May 19. Counting of votes will take place on May 23. The Lok Sabha elections will be held simultaneously with Assembly polls in four states -- Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Odisha.

Election Commission starts Press Conference to announce Lok Sabha polls dates

"All courses of model code of conduct shall apply for what is posted by candidates or political parties on the social media," Arora said.
15 million voters are this time aged between 18 and 19, said Arora.
"The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) comes into effect from today itself in the entire country. Any violation will be death strictly," he said.
"Elaborate arrangement has been made for peaceful conduct of elections," Arora said.
Arora said: "Efforts are made to make voting process comfortable, specially for senior citizens."
"Approximately 10 lakh polling station thhis year," he said.
"NOTA option will be there," he said.
"Total electorate this time is 900 million," Sunil Arora, Chief Election Commissioner, said.
He said the Commission will try to hold free and fair elections.
Sunil Arora, Chief Election Commissioner, is currently addressing a press conference in New Delhi. He will announce the dates of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls shortly.
