Azam Khan: EC seeks report from UP CEO

New Delhi, Apr 9 (IBNS) The Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday sought a report from Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Umesh Sinha over the comments of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan.

This comes after the ruling Congress on Wednesday filed a written complaint with the EC against Khan for his alleged remarks on the 1999 Kargil War.

Khan had said it was Muslim soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country in the Kargil War.

"The soldiers who brought victory in Kargil were not Hindu but Muslim soldiers. It was our Muslim brothers who conquered the peaks of Kargil mountains," Khan said addressing a rally  in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
