Guwahati, Apr 24 (IBNS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday said there is no 'Narendra Modi wave' in India.

"I don't think the country as a whole is struck by any Modi wave. It is a creation of the media," Singh said after casting his vote in Dispur.

Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur cast their ballots in Assam as more than 18 crore voters in 11 states and Union Territory (UT) of Puducherry are exercising their franchise in the sixth of the nine-phased Lok Sabha elections on Thursday.

They cast their votes at the polling booth at Dispur Government Higher Secondary School.

Singh and Kaur are listed in the Dispur legislative assembly constituency under Gauhati Lok Sabha constituency.

Polling is being held in six Lok Sabha constituencies of Assam, namely Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Gauhati, Nowgong, Mangaldai and Barpeta.

Voter turnout in the six constituencies was around 17% till 9 am.
