Cop killed in Assam poll violence

Guwahati, Apr 24 (IBNS) At least one police personnel was killed and another was injured during a booth capturing incident at Kokrajhar in Assam on Thursday leading to suspension of voting at five booths, said reports.

According to reports, a group of at least 40 people attacked policemen deployed for poll security duties and tried to capture a booth in Kokrajhar.

State police and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel rushed to the site and reportedly fired at least ten rounds to bring the situation under control. 

The mob managed to flee the spot with two INSAS rifles belonging to the deceased and injured policemen.
