Kolkata/IBNS: Trinamool Congress strongman Anubrata Mondal, who is a trusted aide of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on Tuesday received a grand welcome by his party colleagues at his home district Birbhum after walking out of jail last night.

Anubrata, who is the TMC Birbhum district president, was granted bail by a Delhi court last Saturday in connection with a case by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the cattle smuggling case.

The Supreme Court had granted him bail in the same case probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation in July.

"I love Mamata Banerjee. West Bengal as well as India love Mamata Banerjee," Anubrata said and added, "I am fine but my legs are not in a good condition."

Anubrata, who walked out of jail two years after he was arrested, is accused of running a racket of smuggling cattle from Birbhum and Murshidabad to Bangladesh.

Mamata Banerjee, who is in Birbhum to assess the flood situation, is likely to share space with Anubrata on Tuesday.
