IndiGo passengers stranded nationwide as airline faces major 'system slowdown'
New Delhi/IBNS: Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo Airlines on Saturday (Oct. 5) experienced a major system slowdown around 12:30 pm, causing widespread disruption to flight operations and ground services across airports nationwide.
The technical issue left numerous passengers unable to board flights or make bookings, resulting in significant delays and frustration for those stranded at airports.
Many affected travelers took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice their complaints and urge the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to step in.
In a post on X, IndiGo acknowledged the situation, stating, "We are currently facing a temporary system slowdown across our network, impacting our website and booking systems. This may lead to longer wait times, slower check-ins, and extended queues at the airport."
The airline assured passengers that their airport staff is fully committed to helping everyone and ensuring smooth operations.
"Rest assured, we are working tirelessly to restore normalcy as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding and patience," IndiGo's statement added.
IndiGo, which operates over 2,000 flights daily, including international routes, is working to resolve the issue promptly, according to reports.
